Libor Dudas leads a public master class on the organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach at Old West Church.
Organ faculty at the Longy School of Music, Prof. Dudas will hear performances by and offer comments to local student organists.
The event is free and open to the public.

Libor Dudas is a native of Croatia. He began his musical studies in piano at the age of 8. At the age of 14 gave his first organ recital in his hometown of Osijek, which led to performances in all the major cities of former Yugoslavia. A scholarship took him to Vienna, Austria, to study organ and church music where he performed, not only in Vienna and Innsbruck, but also throughout Bavaria and Italy. At the age of 20, Dr. Dudas presented an organ recital in the Thomaskirche, Bach’s church in Leipzig, Germany. After receiving his Diploma with Distinction at the Hochschulefür Music und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, Austria, he furthered his studies at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, and at the New England Conservatory of Music where he received a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Organ Performance.
Libor Dudas has studied organ with Rudolph Scholz, Craig Cramer, Gail Walton, William Porter and harpsichord with Darlene Catello and Edward Parmentier. He also studied harpsichord, fortepiano and organ with Peter Sykes and conducting with Jeffrey Rink, former director of the Chorus Pro Musica. Dr. Dudas had premiered pieces by Boston composers James McDonald, Felipe Lara and recorded and premiere of a harpsichord piece “Summer Mischief” by Michigan composer Matthew H. Fields. Dr.Dudas’ recording of Elgar’s “Vesper Voluntaries” can be heard on the CD “Historic Organs of Boston” published by the Organ Historical Society. His latest recording of organ music by Michigan composer David Nisbet Stewart has been released in digital format on Amazon.
As a harpsichordist, forte pianist and organist, he has given numerous concerts throughout North America and Europe and is also active as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist. Recent recitals on the fortepiano have included programs of Mozart and Beethoven sonatas and variations.
In 2008, Dr. Dudas released the CD “Organ music at Old North.”
Libor Dudas was also a music director of the Fine Arts Chorale from 2000-2009.
He has conducted the Chorale in works by Kodaly, Mozart, Schubert, Haydn, Poulenc, Langlais, Faure, Bernstein, Orff and Brahms.
Libor Dudas was on the piano faculty of the Boston Archdiocesan Choir School and on the faculty at the Boston Conservatory of Music.
Recent concerts include all Beethoven program on period instrumentswith violinist Sarah Darling and cellist Phoebe Carrai at Longy School of music, Schubert’s “Schwanen Gesang” with baritone Taylor Ward andcollaboration with Boston Camerata in a concert“ Patriots and Heroes” at the Boston Athenaeum.
Currently, Dr. Dudas teaches at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, MA. He is also the Organist and Choir Director at Boston’s Old North Church.
